Mental Magma

The MM team gives a hearty congratulations to the winner of our first contest, user Chris M.  He won in a landslide vote and wins a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate.

So from now on, whenever anyone asks who you should pants while time traveling, we’ll all know to say:

I would go back and depants Herbert Morrison, the reporter at the Hindenburg Disaster. That situation was very tense, and I think a little depanting could have lightened the mood a bit. “Oh the humanity, the human… huh! HA HA HA he depanted me! What a rascal.”

It’s finally time to vote on this week’s contest finalists. I want to thank everyone who entered the contest and helped kick off this website.  You’re all winners.  However, one of these finalists will be a winner in a more meaningful sense; he will get the prize for 1st place.

So good luck to the final 4 contestants (user Vlad has 2 entries in the top 5).  The polls will close at 5pm on Sunday and the winner will be announced shortly after that.

A few non-finalists bear mentioning.  User smodaresi wrote the least popular entry with a jab at president Bush (It’s my understanding that the white house monitors sites like these to vote down any depantsing jokes).  User TD gets the bilingual award with the only time-traveling entry in multiple languages.  User Agent Mammal gets a shout out for having the only answer that has its own wikipedia entry.

If this is your first visit to the site, I suggest scrolling down or clicking here to read about our first contest. Let me give you a mid-week update. The contest is moving along well. We’ve had a few commenters get a little sidetracked in a political debate, but I guess that’s what people on the internet talk about, even on a time-traveling pull-someone’s-pants-down website.

In its first two days, Mental Magma has had over 100 visitors from 10+ countries. We’ve been promoted on several contest blogs and are generally happy with how the word is spreading, thank you very much for asking. At the time of this post we have 19 official entries, with users Vlad, Bren Beal, and Garrett as current crowd favorites. Remember, you can enter by going to the comments section and leaving your answer as a comment. Even if you don’t want to enter the contest, you can still participate by going to the comments section and rating people’s submissions (thumbs up/thumbs down symbols).

So, let’s get to contest #1: Mischievous Time Traveler. Your first challenge is to imagine you are in possession of a fully-functional time machine. You are charged with the duty of traveling back in time to publicly depants* someone. Nevermind why, you just need to pick a time and a person.
