Contest #6: Winner

Category: Contest #6, Contest Updates, Winner announcementsGabriel @ 5:15 pm

Today we get to announce a winner that has been a perennial source of high quality entries. It was a close race between Padma and Bebemiqui with Padma bringing in the win. She revealed her pantheistic deity public-relations skill with this clever slogan:

You will vote for Hypnos…You will vote for Hypnos.

Congratulations to Padma, she’s has earned herself a $25 Amazon.com Gift Certificate and a $15 gift certificate to the Mental Magma Online Store.

We’ll have an announcement next week for the merch entries we selected. Thanks to all who participated this week.

Contest #6: Finalists

Category: Contest #6, Contest Updates, FinalistsGabriel @ 5:01 pm

Man, you people are good.  This was the first week I laughed out loud at a few answers.  There were some really smart slogans.

Like usual, I want to feature a few of the entries that didn’t make the finals but were nonetheless oh-so-good.  They were: Dlawhon’s Vishnu, Tiago’s Prometheus, Smodaresi’s Hermes, Ian Randal Strock’s Eos, Paula’s Artemis, and Tyson22’s Atlas.

The finalists are well decorated in MM flair; they are made up of two returning champions, Brendan and Mrs. Sara (Mrs. Sara has a shot at an inconceivable back-to-back win), two users who both have had previous merch selections, Padma (whose merch we haven’t officially announced yet) and Bunny Slippers (who made the “Go Green…Do it on a leaf” design), and a first time finalist, Bebemiqui.

The polls will be up until 5pm EST on Sunday.

Contest #6: Poseidon for President

Category: Contest #6, Contests, Monday Contest AnnouncementsGabriel @ 12:18 am

This week at MM we want to get political.  We could get involved with the whole McCain vs Obama shebang, but it seemed a little pedestrian for us.  We like to take an ordinary idea and perform our patented idea-alchemy on it.  We started thinking; why restrict ourselves to mortal candidates?

This week’s contest is to imagine the deity of your choice running for office and invent their campaign slogan. We were mainly thinking of presidential campaigns when we thought up this contest, but if you want to write a slogan involving Poseidon running for County Sheriff, so be it; any publicly elected office will do.
